My Background

Following a childhood in West Dorset I moved to London to study commercial interior design. After graduating I worked in design and architecture (Design House; Fitch & Co and then architects DEGW) for more than ten years.

Returning to the West Country and as the demands of running a business and raising my family eased a bit I resumed painting 10 years ago.

My painting

Right from the farm landscapes of my childhood, via the rocky coasts of Cornwall, to more recent tours in my camper van to the cities, towns and seafronts of the Mediterranean I have been mesmerised by the beauty inherent in both nature and the man made environment.

In my painting I try to capture something of my sense of connection with and immersion in the landscape, the intensity and endless variety of colour and form, and the emotional response invoked within me.
